When you think of a Karate school you think of learning to fight, and to be sure if your children (boys or girls) go through our program here at the Cleveland Karate Institute they will learn to defend themselves . . . learn to fight. When it comes to our younger students however, they learn so much more.  Kicking, blocking and punching are really just the tools we use to teach much more important lessons to our junior students. Balance, coordination, following directions, mental focus and self discipline are the real skills we teach. All this is taught in a fun and safe family environment. Throughout our school your kids will learn positive values, like honor and respect and have good role models to emulate. They will develop good work and study habits. It is not possible to become an advanced martial artist without lots of hard work. This “habit” of hard work spills over into every aspect of your child’s life. Any student that makes it to our advanced level just naturally becomes a better student in school, more helpful and cooperative at home and ultimately a better and more productive citizen. As your child becomes more and more skilled in kajukenpo a fundamental change takes place, they earn self esteem and confidence. The confidence that comes from knowing that they have accomplished something that is hard to do, and that they did it themselves, not the false confidence that comes from not loosing a game because they didn’t keep score! If you are looking for something for your children to do (other than play video games), that will keep them off the street, teach them respect, discipline, honor and help them to grow into the adults you know they can be, than bring them to The Cleveland Karate Institute for a free trial lesson.
